Whereas people are perhaps ready to keep an open mind on ambitious National MP Mr Luxon, (a high profile contender for the leadership) he does seem to be playing his cards close to his chest. Its hard to get a feel of who he really is.

There’s a natural suspicion towards anyone who spent a long period managing a state owned business, and Air New Zealand under his lead did seem to go down a pretty woke trail. His statements in the video below on the social responsibilities of businesses make him sound a bit like the typical fashionable leftist corporate cronyist. He may be too woke for Conservatives, and perhaps a better fit for the Labour party.
