Robertson hire- Inquiry needed into Otago Uni

Given the politicised state of NZ’s public universities today, should they be taxpayer subsidized at all? Why is the man in the street funding from his wages institutions that have become virtual Marxist indoctrination centers?

The point is heavily emphasized this week with the appointment of Labour’s treasurer Grant Roberston (a lifetime leftist with no academic qualifications) to a $620,000 salaried position as Vice Chancellor at Otago University.

In May last year Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Helen Nicholson said “We need to reduce our annual operating budget by about $60m, and salary savings will need to be a significant component of this.”

Funny, these concerns were expressed around the time they would have been negotiating Robertson’s appointment as Vice Chancellor and his $620,000 salary.

In June, Labour Education Minister Jan Tinetti announced an extra $128 million would go to the tertiary sector in increased subsidies. $21 million of this went to Otago University.

This stinks to high heaven of Labour/ Left wing corruption and cronyism and there needs to be a public inquiry. Otago university management, Grant Robertson and the Labour party need to be held to account.

As well as the possible corruption, the philosophical question must be asked- Why should taxpayers be funding these dens of extreme left radicalism, who bust their budget employing leftists like Robertson, and where no one with any common sense would ever send their kids to be “educated”?

The most irritating thing to me is the complete lack of fight on these kind of issues from the so called “center right” parties.

Its not news. For decades the left have been arranging things in NZ so that their despicable country wrecking movement is funded from the public purse.

They have set up so many fronts whereby funds are transferred from the unwitting taxpayer into their pockets. The biggest front they have built so far is the so called education system. All the way through, from primary to tertiary, the system is designed to support and finance left wing political ideology and its proponents.

Public education is the way the left funnel their destructive ideology into NZ society. Its a completely fake institution that is costing the country billions in the destructive outcomes caused by this failed ideology.

Yet still National and the others just roll on as if the problem doesn’t exist. They should be taking real steps to stop the left feeding from the taxpayer, not only in education but in every other scheme they have devised. Media subsidies, NZ on Air, Creative NZ, to name just a few.

All of these entities exist only to funnel money to the left so they can keep their poisonous ideology alive, and if we had any politicians in NZ who knew what the word “fight” means they would all be dealt to tomorrow.

Unfortunately we only have a selection of milling drongos posing as the center right. So nothing will be done and the left will continue their evil taxpayer funded march. At enormous social and economic cost to the country.

That would be so discouraging to any Otago senior managers of any merit. Expect most of the good ones to flee to roles at universities overseas.

Very soon he’ll torpedo the University into deficits way bigger than his already massive girth.
