They lied! A document has recently come to light which confronts the claims made by Jacinda Ardern and her legacy media friends that the Public Interest Journalism Fund had no political component.
It also explains the motivation behind many of the confronting changes in the TV One newsroom, (and other news outlets) including excessive use of Maori language, an unnecessary focus on Maori issues and the rapid growth in the number of “Maori” presenters.
The publication “A Tiriti Framework For News Media” as produced by a group of left wing academics funded by NZ on Air is nothing less than a series of subjective assertions founded in boilerplate Marxist doctrine shrouded in a cloak of so called Maori cultural consciousness.

It is so far from apolitical it could easily be mistaken for a policy document of the Maori Party, but it was funded by you, the taxpayer.
The document was originally compiled back in 2008 then updated and revised under the Ardern govt by means of a contract funded by NZ On Air. It was then reissued as a behind the scenes guide for the operation of the PIJF.
The document specifies a number of controversial political concepts that must be addressed in any reporting paid for out of the fund, such as-
- For news media, it is not simply a matter of reporting ‘fairly’, but of constructively contributing to te Tiriti relations and social justice.
- As a result of colonisation, we live in a society that perpetuates racism and inequities.
- As tangata whenua o Aotearoa, Māori have never ceded sovereignty to Britain or any other State.
- He Whakaputanga/Declaration of Independence (1835) and te Tiriti o Waitangi (1840) asserted and continue to assert Māori sovereignty, and were signed by hapū and the Crown.
The document also demands that media organisations answer a number of leading questions, such as-
- How does the organisation address the use of language and culture in news items? This could mean increasing everyday use of te reo Māori in news items; and including information about tikanga as context in news stories
- How does the organisation constructively report difficult news in ways that do not increase fear and distrust of Māori?
- How will mass news media organisations change the dominance of Pākehā male commentators and sources?
It would make this post far too long to address all of the outrageously political and race based assertions made in the document, so I suggest you download it from the link below and read it yourself.
Also, please re-distribute it if you can. This outrageous example of political interference in the NZ media needs the maximum amount on light shone on it. Especially after Jacinda Ardern and all of her media friends have stated on so many occasions that no such influence had ever existed.

I suppose that the only thing we should be surprised at is being surprised.
The queen of lies on the podium of untruths.

Thank you for publishing this document. My question; is there anything that Jacinda Ardern did not lie about? The evil deeds of hers are almost incomprehensible to a rational mind. Now pray tell me, why did Luxon meet with her late last year? What was the reason to give her such priority of time? Ah, the Christchurch Call, yes that, so she is making a career to control ideas, hopes, expectations and feelings of the people at large, and Luxon meets with her? I cannot say I have any respect for him now for he made a mockery of the Prime Ministers office by meeting with such a repulsive person.

Yes, sad to see this in an Australian newspaper a few days ago. Not surprised though. My Luxon’s judgement can’t be trusted it appears.
Leaving the Ardern factor aside- When the current mood is a move away from big tech tyranny, Mr Luxon is cheering for it. I just don’t think he is that intelligent.

Why obsessively promote Maori (indigenous) interests, but simultaneously promote multiculturalism, and immigration from the third world in particular? What do you get? I read a NZ Herald article a few years ago that said Auckland has more races and ethnicities than actually exist in the world.
And, for example, do large Chinese, Asian, and Indian communities in Auckland care about Auckland Maori? Or New Zealand Maori? Is anyone allowed to ask that question publicly? Without being attacked?
Little old NZ seems a strange place to me now. What is New Zealand?

The way to improve the wellbeing of maori is not to give them self determination or 50/50 co-governance, as only the tribal elite receive the benefit. Target maori wellbeing in all those terrible social, health, educations and economic areas on a family by family basis.
They had tribal power pre 1840 and had that prevailed where would they be ?
Terms like maori and non-maori reinforce the current social divide where maori only prevail by being victims of colonisation.
The terminology should be New Zealanders and New Zealanders who can trace a maori relative.
