Events in Alberta are a warning for NZ govt’s “renewables” push

In August last year, Alberta’s Premiere Danielle Smith issued a warning about the Trudeau govts obsession with “renewable” energy.

New Zealand needs to take a good look at Alberta, a Canadian province that has gone full tilt converting its energy supply to renewables.

Yesterday, with extreme cold and no wind the Alberta govt had to issue an emergency alert telling everyone to stop using heaters and charging their electric cars. (see attached graphic) The alert also asked drivers not to heat their engines as is customarily done to stop petrol/ diesel engines from freezing solid overnight.

No matter whether your car is an EV or ICE model, it doesn’t matter because you can’t drive it anyway. No power for electric, and your ICE car’s engine is frozen solid. So just sit isolated in your home and freeze like the good little caveman/ woman that Mr Trudeau wants you to be.

Alberta is home to more than three quarters of the wind and solar built in Canada in 2022. It is on track to meet its target of generating 30 per cent of its total electricity from renewable sources by 2030.

Shortly after the attached alert was issued, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe put out a tweet, saying his province was providing 153 megawatts of power to Alberta to help them during the shortage.

“That power will be coming from natural gas and coal-fired plants, the ones the Trudeau government is telling us to shut down (which we won’t),” Moe wrote.

Critical Civil Emergency Alert issued by Alberta at the weekend.

    Do you read: stopthesethings.com ?

For example, designing, and building offshore wind turbine farms in hostile marine environments? Really?
Collective insanity? Or deliberate madness? You tell me. Why are we committing suicide? Please advise.

Why are we committing suicide? Why does anyone ever commit suicide? Insanity. Mass insanity. They want to do this. Like Jim Jones and the People’s Temple at Jonestown. They thirst to drink from the poison.

You can reason on this issue until the cows come home. Be as rational as possible. It just does not cut any ice. People want to believe. I can’t explain it.

I am increasingly being forced to the conclusion that we are facing a global epidemic of insanity, and the worst part of it is that we who can see what a farce it is are still going to be dragged down by it.

Previously, I have tolerated people who have subscribed to this religion as benign. Harmless fools. However its becoming clearer today that they are a growing danger to the human race. They’re going to wipe us off the face of the earth if they are not stopped.

I used read American Conservative Lawrence Auster’s blog. He wrote the essay “the path to national suicide”, which is worth reading, and you may be familiar with him. Died in 2013. His archives are still online, and this post stays with me:

        http://www.amnation.com/vfr/archives/009677.html

In it, he responds to an article decrying the decline of Britain, and he brilliantly defines the poison of Liberalism that he says has gripped the West (more dangerous than Communism) as compared to its bastard child, political correctness.
        Cheers

I have a vague recollection that Alberta is (or was) a huge producer of shale oil. So much that citizens get an annual dividend cheque from the state govt., rather than a tax demand. What else has gone wrong?
