Watch for media’s predictable Golriz cover-up

Green MP Tamatha Paul runs like a rabbit this morning when asked about the Golriz allegations. Newshub sent one cub reporter to a pro-Palestine demonstration where Ms Paul was speaking, and when she turned her back on him, he let her go with a smile.

Current reporting says Ms Ghahraman was alleged to have first shoplifted in early December, and then a second time just before Christmas. This is a long time for the media to keep a story under wraps. Would this have happened if David Seymour or Judith Collins were facing similar allegations?

The story was broken by Phillip Crump who runs the new paywalled breaking news site ZB Plus. Mr Crump previously gained a big following on social media using the pen name Thomas Cranmer, where he scooped the legacy media on many big stories.

So called journalists in the legacy media refuse to report objectively on Green left politicians. For example they have still to ask co-Leader Jimmy Shaw how he obtained a master’s degree from Bath University when he does not have the requisite BA he once claimed to have.

Then there is the matter of exactly where Ms Ghahraman has chosen to holiday. Media seem reluctant to report on this, and there is no reason for it to be a secret. Unless of course it is Iran.

Which it cannot be. The main reason Golriz and her family were given refugee status is because of hostility they faced from the Iran govt. They claimed they would face persecution if they went back. So it cannot be Iran, can it?

Watch for legacy media’s predictable cover up for Ms Ghahraman’s alleged misbehaviour. Just as they have done with Wellington Mayor and ex Green Party Chief of Staff Tory Whanau. For the sake of our democracy, New Zealand is in dire need of a non-partisan media.

    With any luck, she’ll be heading in the direction of Gaza . . .

      I suspect she may be in Iran. Because the media won’t say where she is or express the slightest curiosity on the subject. This suggests to me that they would be (as usual) covering for her.

      The animosity of the Iranian govt to her and her family was the reason they were permitted entry as refugees. If this claim was based in truth, she shouldn’t be on holiday there, and if she is, her citizenship should be rescinded.

    It seems that the usual order of W’ton spin doctored process has been followed by the Watermelon Party.
    * Keep quiet or say / hint it isn’t so
    * Concede it happened (but wasn’t really a big deal)
    * Blame ‘the system’
    * Say ‘the system’ caused health problems
    * Diversify blame on to social media criticisms
    * The health problems were the cause of ‘abnormal’ behaviour
    * Extol any past positives, no matter how insignificant
    * Diminish any present negatives
    * Promise support and undying affection
    * Usual ‘woe is me’ and ‘I’m so sorry’ blather in a media release.

    Wonder if there will ever be any police follow-up action?

    Perhaps GG should’ve thought a bit more before waving the genocidal Palestinians’ flag around? That couldn’t be connected, could it?
