It is not anti-Maori or racist to hold opinions that differ to those of Maori Party MPs. Many Maoris themselves hold such differing views.
An example is Mr Martin Te Heuheu. In an interview with the Free Radical magazine some years ago, Martin made it clear he was not part of the grievance movement. (see pic above)
Martin Te Heuheu is a descendant of Chief Tukino Te Heuheu who in the late 1880s deeded the mountains Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe to New Zealand as a national park.
The so called “Maori” party is misnamed. An analysis by Lindsay Mitchell suggests only 17% of enrolled Maori voted for them. The greater majority of Maoris by far vote for the mainstream parties.
Imagine if the name of the Labour Party was changed to the European Party. The party would be ridiculed because it could not in any way maintain that it represented the views of each and every European New Zealander.
The so called Maori party is a small group of Marxist radicals with only minority support and it would not be in govt at all if not for the special Maori seats.
If it wants to attain a modicum of respect it should change its name to something that reflects its extremist position. Suggestions for the new name welcome in the comments.

Tempting to suggest some names – but few come to mind that could be re-printed or repeated.

Thank you for the smile.
Wayward Waka Wanderers is pretty good. Actually, I’m not clear on how they came to NZ, whether through Hawaii or some other Polynesia route, but I know that if the top heavy Mr Waititi was Captain, they would have no doubt have rolled the canoe in the first bit of heavy sea.
I think like the Green Party they should just have a more honest name. Greens should call themselves the Socialist Alternative or something like that, and Rawiri and his crowd could be the Treaty Party. At least those names would reflect who they really are.

The main problem with the label, “Treaty Party” is that it would not be true. They have no interest in honouring the Treaty signed at Waitangi in 1840.
The Waitangi Tribunal Kangaroo Kourt does not use the original Maori language Treaty signed at Waitangi. That’s despite clamouring for the ‘protection’ of their language.
No. They use a cobbled-together, this-might-be-what-they-thought-the-treaty-meant version that was cooked up by Hugh Kawharu.
See here: https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/1975/0114/latest/DLM435834.html
That confabulated version is full of words totally absent from the final English language draft, referred to as the “Littlewood draft.” Many of those make-believe words are also absent from the Maori language Treaty signed at Waitangi in 1840. I.e. The version used by the Waitangi Tribunal is a blatant fraud.
A rudimentary webpage with some of the basic details is here: http://dodnz.info/treaty_truths/
The Sedition Party might be close.
Or perhaps the Part-Maori Supremacists Party?

Agree. IMHO the whole Waitangi Tribunal is a fraud. Michael Basset once wrote that all you needed was a few photocopied pages from some make believe document and they would make you an award. No claim is confronted by a counter argument. Its merely a rubber stamping process. Another disaster we can thank the National party for. The Tribunal should never have been set up. There should be a public enquiry into its findings and when the truth is exposed, as it should be, it should be grounds for closing it down.

While all the political parties are complicit, wasn’t comrade commissar Clark PM when the offending Act was brought in to law?

Sorry, you’re probably right, but I know that Nats were complicit because I have had a few arguments (in person) with those involved. I know the original ACT was way back in 75 and probably introduced by Labour, although there was an election late that year so I’m not sure. Clark did pass an amended version during her term, but the Nats too did plenty of stuff to help set up the mess we have today. When they should have been tearing it down.

Hi Kevin. Sorry you’re having trouble commenting. A few other people have reported a similar issue but I can’t identify the problem. According to the comment management section, I have made it as simple as possible. Commenters should be able to write their comment, no email address etc needed and it should show up. You can use a fake email address no problem. I just do not know I am sorry. Here’s a screen grab of me making the two sample comments below. As you can see, everything works fine. (using Opera)
