2023 gave us a plethora of reasons to despise the legacy media, and Tory Whanau was one of them.
Tory was the Green Party’s Chief of Staff before she unexpectedly won the Wellington Mayoralty in October 2022. Many allege she won because the legacy media acted as her cheer squad.
Despite media’s glee at her win, they’ve been forced to report rumours of laziness, a failure to turn up to work at all, and lately drunkenness and sexually explicit behaviour in a public bar. Ms Whanau subsequently admitted to a major problem with alcohol.
She promised to be “accountable” after her win, but has not resigned and is of course still drawing her full salary while undergoing treatment.
Imagine if Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown (who the legacy media perceive as “right wing”) had behaved the same way. Media would have hounded him out of office in a few days.
Instead they hurry to publish soft pieces on her attempts to rehabilitate. In a repeat of their abject failure to fully report on Green Party leader Jimmy Shaw’s probable fake university degrees.
Check out far left/ green activist John Campbell’s gloating smile as he interviews Ms Whanau in the video. NZ media is a politically corrupt swamp, and that the embarrassing Wellington Mayor still holds her job is just more undeniable proof of this truth.

This apology for a mayor must be removed, along with the riff raff now employed by council (funded by ratepayers), setting the scene for unnecessary ruination of Wellington. Time for ratepayers only, voting in local body elections, so as to get this cesspit of left-wing sleeze out of our lives.

Perhaps time too to ask public servants/ bureaucrats on specific payrolls to abstain from voting.
